SUSHI SEN

Pantai Indah Kapuk is widely known as one of the culinary destination, especially in North Jakarta area. They have so many selections such as bubble teas, pizzas, Chinese foods, ramen, grilled Korean BBQ, and ice cream. I did wonder once because there is no good sushi restaurants pop in this area. So happy that finally Sushi Sen opened its door in Pantai Indah Kapuk.

Sushi Sen located next to Gojira, ex-Daichi/Bobabits. They are in two storage building, dominated in wooden decoration, delivering quite a warm Japanese atmosphere. Staffs are friendly and helpful. It is not so spacious and can be a problem when you come late, because the queue may surprise you. They do not take any reservation, too!

SALMON CARPACCIO - 98k

Beautifully presented salmon sashimi with seaweed, salmon roe, and lemon for the dressing . The thickness felt so right. not too thin nor too thick. Seasoning was great, fresh and light. This one was a perfect appetizer before dipping into more delicious food of theirs!

DRAGON ROLL -149k

At first I did not want to have any sushi rolls, since they are specializing in fresh sashimi. But looking at the description of their rolls seduced me to have one, so I chose for dragon roll. The portion was quite generous, with big chunks of tempura inside the roll. I amazed by how crunchy the tempura inside was very crunchy and tasty!

SPECIAL GYUDON - 88k

This one was the winner of the night!

Beautifully cooked gyudon served with onsen egg and fried garlic on top. Sauce was amazing, the beef was very tender, pleasing egg, even the fried garlic was good! Everything on the plate really enriched each other. Somehow I found that the dish came in quite small portion and I could really have it all by myself.

PS: you can add uni (70k) or foie gras (65k) on it.

Overall Sushi Sen offers a really good Japanese food in Pantai Indah Kapuk area. Everything is very enjoyable and pleasing, but somehow I found the price was quite above the average.
